Guest Interaction
Our artist, Kei, welcomes guests to join her and take a seat to invite them into her creative process. After a brief meet and greet, she takes each guest name and breaks them down into its syllables and interprets them, not just translate them, into Japanese, based on their unique personality.
She does this by using the Kanji alphabet, one of four Japanese alphabets, which consists of more than 10,000 characters. Each Kanji symbol she chooses represents an idea or concept beyond its phonetic pronunciation. Through this, she is able to create a name that reflects each guest's individuality.
She then paints their Kanji name into a beautiful, bespoke work of art using beautiful colors and a one-of-a-kind design. In this way, no two names and no two paintings are alike. Each crafted work of art is the only one in the entire world, rendering every piece a special memento.
The magic in this is that it is an artistic snapshot of who each guest is at that specific time and place. Should we see happen to meet any guest at another time or place, they may have grown or changed. Life is, after all, always in flux. The guest then has the choice of keeping their previously chosen name or allow Kei to create a new one to match who they have become.
