Guest Interaction

At this type of event, we welcome guests to take a seat with us and join Kei in her creative process of making a one-of-kind work of art that reflects each person's unique individuality.

She does this by choosing syllables from the Kanji alphabet, one of three Japanese alphabets, which is made up of more than 10,000 symbols. Every character she chooses represents an idea or concept, that best reflects each guest's personality. She then paints their name using the chosen kanji into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind work of art.

We encourage guest involvement in this part of the creative process, to help make the artwork as genuine and personal as possible. Guests can choose any color combinations they like, and with any design elements they may have in mind. In this way, no two guest names, or two artworks, are ever the same.

Material Variety

We use traditional Japanese 'shikishi' board for our regular guest interaction events, but sometimes substitute or supplement them with more exotic or exciting materials for event-specific themes. A number of items we have worked with in the past include various paintable masks, folding hand-fans, miniature Japanese paper umbrellas and 'mini-shikishi', which are 1/4 the size of the regular ones.
