We create exhibition works of custom Japanese calligraphy art that capture the essence of each individual event. Some have a theme, others with a concept or idea, such as love. We may choose a kanji as simple as love (愛), and fill the canvas with colors of bright passion to reflect the immense power of such a deep and profound word.

 

We use framed canvas as our artistic medium, with a single Kanji character, but sometimes apply a Japanese axiom, idiom or phrase.

Examples of these may be Japanese phrases you have heard or are familiar with, such as ichigo iche (一期一会), meaning 'One time, one meeting,' representing the singularity of each moment. Or wabi-sabi (侘び寂び), which centers on the acceptance of imperfection and highlights the ever-changing and beautiful landscape of life.
